Tomato sauce
Chop the onion roughly and cut the garlic in half lengthwise
Add olive oil, onion and garlic to a pot and sauté over low heat for about an hour
Once the onions have softened and turned caramelized, add the whole tomatoes and then add water while rinsing the inside of the can
Add salt, coarsely ground black pepper and basil, crush the tomatoes and cook for another 40 minutes
Strain through a coarse sieve and it's done
