Slice the onion into thin slices.
Heat oil in a pan and fry the onion and ginger over medium heat.
Once the onions are soft, add dashi, soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar.
Once it comes to a boil, add the beef and simmer over low heat until cooked.
